SAAM is shared by everyone at the desk, so it asks who you are before you move money. You answer with your staff number and your PIN.
Who: every member of staff who has been given a staff number and PIN.
Where: you are asked for them when you open or close a till, take a payment, add, pay or void a charge, and refund. My PIN is at the bottom of the sidebar.
Before you start
Your Hotel Admin gives you a staff number and a first PIN.
Choose your own PIN
A PIN you are given works for nothing until you replace it with your own.
- In the sidebar, click My PIN.
- Enter your Staff number and the PIN you were given.
- Enter a New PIN (4 digits) and the same again in New PIN again.
- Click Set my PIN.
Give your staff number and PIN
Most screens ask in one box, Your staff number and PIN. Some ask in two steps, Enter your Username and then Enter your password. Both mean the same thing: the username is your staff number and the password is your PIN.
What happens next
- The sidebar shows Signed in as your name. Everything done on this computer is recorded under your name until you click Sign out next to it, close your till, or leave the computer unused for 30 minutes.
- Click Sign out when you step away. If you don't, the next person's work is recorded under your name.
Forgot your PIN?
- Click My PIN.
- Under Forgot your PIN?, enter your Staff number and click Request a new PIN.
- Your Hotel Admin is told, checks it is you, and gives you a new one. Choose your own PIN again.
Rules and limits
- Never use someone else's PIN. Every payment and every till count is recorded under the name that PIN belongs to.
- After 8 wrong PINs, that staff number is locked for 15 minutes.
- "Choose your own PIN first": you are still using the PIN you were given. Change it under My PIN.
- "This staff number is not active": ask your Hotel Admin.
